Volunteers - Weekly Meetings

Adult volunteers

Working as part of a team of adult volunteers, adult leaders assist in the planning and delivery of an exciting programme of outdoor activities, community projects, games, challenges, learning about global issues, and camps!

This is a fun and rewarding role and is ideal for people that enjoy working with young people. Over time you will see our young members grow in confidence and ability as they learn from the programme you help run.

No previous experience of Scouting is necessary. What is important is your own skills and experience as well as empathy with our mission and values. We provide a warm welcome, a sociable network, a relevant level of easy to access training and lots of online resources to help with the planning of activities as well as lots of ongoing face to face support.

We appreciate that life can be busy, so we are flexible as to the level of your involvement but being part of Scouting is great fun and it goes without saying that helping young people can be one of the most rewarding things you can do, plus it also looks great on your CV!

If you would like to help out, get in touch with one of the section leaders or you can get more information and sign up via the national volunteering site.

Young leaders

Young Leaders volunteer alongside adult leaders in our Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Scout Troop. They are an invaluable asset to any leadership team and play an active role in the section, bringing fresh ideas to the table and acting as positive role models for the young people they work alongside.

As well as developing valuable life skills, the scheme is an opportunity for young people aged 14-18 to make a positive impact in their communities and to fulfil the service elements of many of the top awards in Scouts, or their Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

The Young Leaders’ Scheme is the training programme for Young Leaders. It contains 11 modules and four missions for them to work through whilst volunteering in their chosen section. Modules give Young Leaders the skills and knowledge to be successful in their role, while missions allow them to put everything into practice with support.
