SCOUT AGM

posted 8 Jun 2018, 06:54 by Website Admin ‎(Fiona Cain)‎

Date:               Friday 15th June 2018

Venue:             The Scout Hut

Time:               7.00 PM

The evening will start with a short AGM, and then, whilst you are entertained by the Beavers and Cubs, the Scouts will be busy cooking the food.

Please remember that all our wonderful leaders volunteer their evenings, weekends and holidays free of charge to provide fun and exciting activities for your children.  As good as they are, they cannot do everything by themselves and they need your help. This help can take many forms and includes encouraging your son or daughter to attend meetings and take part in the activities provided for them and especially helping if asked.

However, we also need your help on our Executive Committee. This committee should be predominantly made up of parents of the Group members and typically meets with the leaders once every two months for approximately two hours to oversee the administration of the Group. It should consist of a Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Two Scout Reps, Two Cub Reps, Two Beaver Reps and ideally, three more members to help maintain our minibus, co-ordinate Hall Bookings and keep our Website updated. This year ideally we need at least one more Rep for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and two people to deal with hall bookings and to look after the minibus.  If you are interested in any of the above, or would just like more information, please feel free to contact one of the leaders or committee members.

We all live busy lives and have commitments but we are only asking for a few hours of your time. Please think about what you can do to help – who knows you might actually enjoy it!

So that we can ensure that there is enough food we would appreciate it if you could please complete return the slip on the letters sent out recently to your childs section leader by Tuesday 12th June?

We will not be charging for the food and drinks but will have some collection bowls if anybody would like to make a donation towards the cost of the food.

Race Night 19th November 2016

posted 30 Oct 2016, 12:08 by Website Admin ‎(Fiona Cain)‎

Hello everyone

This year we're having a race night on Saturday 19 November to raise funds to go towards the upkeep of the scout hall including essential maintenance and internal redecoration, as well as tidying up the garden.  Please see the attached flyer for details.  It would be great to see you there having fun and raising money for our group while doing it.

We also thought we'd have a silent auction to help towards our fundraising efforts with donations and efforts from our parents/families and the local businesses.

Can you help?

Can you provide a donation however big or small, this could be anything from a bottle of wine to making a family meal for four or perhaps something from a friendly business that you know.  If you can, please contact either Fiona Cain at fiona.cain@yahoo.co.uk, Maggie Vivian at maggie.vivian@hotmail.co.ukSarah Hancock-Raphael  sarah.hancock-raphael@gartner.com or Sue Newton suevat49newton@blueyonder.co.uk by 9 November so we can get the list ready for the week before race night.

Your help and contribution would be hugely appreciated to make sure the scout hall is fit for our children to play in.

We look forward to hearing from you.
